Being deeply passionate about comic books, intricate illustrations, creative writing, and the rich tapestry of Mauritian folklore, I was inspired to take part in the Geekin' Moris competition, specifically in the comic book category. To my delight and surprise, I emerged victorious, winning 1st prize in this prestigious event. This achievement not only validated my efforts but also fuelled my enthusiasm for storytelling through visual art.
The experience of participating in the competition was nothing short of exhilarating. It provided me with a unique platform to showcase my storytelling abilities and artistic skills to a wider audience. The juries, who were esteemed figures in the literary and artistic communities, praised my work for its outstanding book cover illustration.
They noted that the title and the accompanying illustrations I created were so captivating that they immediately drew them in. This recognition was particularly meaningful to me, as I had poured my heart and soul into crafting a narrative that resonates with the essence of Mauritian culture.

One of the aspects that I am most proud of is that my comic book is written in Mauritian Creole, a language that holds significant cultural importance to me as a Mauritian. By choosing to write in Creole, I aimed to establish a deeper connection with my roots and convey the story of "Pionden" in a way that is authentic and relatable to my fellow Mauritians. The narrative weaves together elements of folklore and traditional tales, bringing to life characters and themes that reflect our shared heritage. This choice of language not only enriches the storytelling but also honors the vibrant culture of Mauritius.
If you are intrigued and wish to delve into the world I have created, I invite you to reach out to me for more information about the book. I would be thrilled to share my work with you and discuss the inspirations behind it. Additionally, stay tuned for more exciting projects and updates that I have in the pipeline!
There is so much more to come, and I can't wait to share it with all of you!
