This animation features a butterfly from Mauritius, the endemic Amauris Phoedon, also known as the Mauritian Friar. In this animation, the butterfly is given a voice, asking people if they know about its existence, as it is both endemic and nearly extinct like many other butterflies. The voice urges people to take notice of this rare butterfly, so rare that most are unaware of it because it's on the brink of extinction.

The animation gives the butterfly a mystical aspect, with a human face, serving as a metaphor for what it might be like if it were human and could speak for itself. The animation ends with a powerful message: "Protect what's left, before it's lost forever." This emphasises the urgency of acting now to prevent the extinction of other endemic animals that we cannot hear or see.
I now let you discover the animation below. Voice narration in Mauritian Creole with English subtitles.
